Scholarship Dinner Benefit 2020 ~ Cancelled

Due to the challenges being faced with Covid-19, the Chicago North Shore Alumnae Panhellenic Spring Scholarship Dinner Benefit "Celebrating Women" had been cancelled for 2020. The event was originally scheduled for April 22, at the Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield IL.

Our honored guest speaker, Ms. Melissa Isaacson, was scheduled to speak on her new book How Title IX Saved Me: My 40-Year Transformation. Ms. Isaacson was a Chicago Tribune sports reporter for 19 years. She is currently a lecturer at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and author of the recently published book, State: A Team, A Triumph, A Transformation.

We drew upon the theme of celebrating women by noting strong women throughout history. American sharpshooter Annie Oakley; associate justice of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg; engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut, Mae Carol Jemison; fashionable actresses Marlene Dietrich and Diane Keaton; professional golfer Michelle Wie; the legedary Coco Chanel; and sports columnist Melissa Isaacson all made their mark in a man's world.

As the annual Benefit is the only fundraising event supporting our scholarships for area high school seniors, we sought donations and contributions to our scholarship fund with an online auction of baskets created by each CNSAP member sorority. Together, we were able to award scholarships to two deserving Stevenson High School seniors, Ms. Bridget Zhu and Ms. Trisha Patel.

Congratulations to our 2020 Scholarship Winners

The Chicago North Shore Alumnae Panhellenic was proud to announce our two scholarship winners, Ms. Trisha Patel (shown left), and Ms. Bridget Zhu (rt.) These two remarkable high school senior women excelled in the areas
of academia and community service. Trisha, a graduate of Stevenson High School, is the recipient of the Service Scholarship and plans to attend UCLA in the fall to study biology. Bridget, also from Stevenson High School, received our Academic Scholarship and plans to attend Duke University this fall to study engineering.

CNSAP annually awards monetary assistance to outstanding area high school senior women who will attend a college or university with National Panhellenic Conference sorority affiliations. Grants were also provided to Northwestern University and Lake Forest College women to attend the Undergraduate Interfraternity Leadership Conference. Your support and contributions to our online Scholarship Dinner Benefit Auction for 2020 made it possible. We thank you, and congratulate our two deserving scholarship winners!
